The Aidan O’Brien-trained Paddington starts in the York Ebor Festival’s Juddmonte International Stakes on Day 1 of the four-day festival on Wednesday as a popular favourite following a dominant display at Glorious Goodwood earlier this month.
The three-year-old colt showed a terrific turn of foot over the final 200m against respected opposition in the Sussex Stakes – and as a result of his performance – the rising Ballydoyle prospect is the shortest-priced entrant for the headline feature.
He looks likely to control the pace but won’t be without his fair share of competition, with a small yet extremely competitive field expected to line up in the barriers alongside him.
Second favourite Mostahdaf is coming off the back of a strong showing in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes in June where he finished won by four lengths, while Nashwa was narrowly beaten in the Nassau Stakes last time out.
Meanwhile, for those impressed by The Foxes’ strong run in the Belmont Derby International Stakes, the three-year-old is the outsider of the field at 14/1.
The York meeting starts at 14h50.
