Oratorio lands in Dubai, on his way to South Africa from Australia

Exciting new Avontuur stallion Oratorio landed more than two things in the past week. At the Happy Valley track, in Hong Kong, a son of Oratorio won the only Group race of the season, when Military Attack stormed home under Weichong  Marwing to win the Gr3 January Cup run over 1800m last Wednesday.

The John Moore trained 5yo was settled at the rear and produced a devastating late effort wide out. He followed up on his excellent fifth at his last outing in the Gr1Hong Kong Cup run over 2000m. Marwing said afterwards that Miltary Attack, who w as recording a third win in Hong Kong, had Gr1 potential.

“There’s definitely more to come and he is a very nice mover,” he said. Oratorio landed in Dubai this week en route to Cape Town and the start of a new phase to his career as a leading stallion at Avontuur Stud.

• Oratorio’s son Ottimo registered his third win in eight outings in the Fred Crabbia silks at Arlington last Friday. He won the Allowance Plate over 1400m under Muzi Yeni. The Gr 2 Umkhomazi Stakes winner is now in the care of Justin Snaith and as a lightly campaigned 3yo, his future looks promising.
