Making Waves In Europe

Oratorio, Stallion

Oratorio – good results

Avontuur’s world class sire Oratorio has had another exceptional season in 2015. The triple Gr1 winner’s runners include the Gr1 winner Mourinho (Underwood S) and Gr3 winner Sons Of John (Hawkesbury Gold Cup), as well as the progressive Irish filly Eshera, who has won two of just three outings including the Listed Platinum Stakes.

Oratorio’s runners have also built up an impressive strike rate in Europe. The champion son of Danehill has been represented by no fewer than 68 winners in 2015 in Europe –from 139 runners.

His percentage of 49% puts Oratorio among the top sires by percentage of winners in the Northern Hemisphere. At the time of writing, Oratorio is joint third leading sire by % winners to runners in Europe –behind only Darley’s sensational sires Dubawi (52%) and Shamardal (51%).

Oratorio is currently outgunning the outstanding sires Exceed And Excel, Galileo, Invincible Spirit, Oasis Dream and Pivotal (to mention but a few) in this category – yet another feather in the cap of this consistently successful sire.

A champion at both two and three who earned more than £1 million in stakes, Oratorio has 44 individual stakes winners to his credit including the G1 winners Banchee, Beethoven, Manawanui, Military Attack, Mourinho and Temida.

To date, Oratorio runners have earned more than $45 million in prize money –a total which looks likely to rise still further over the coming seasons.

The Enchanting Currency Of Fate

It is eerie to think that there would have been no Siren’s Call, Sound Of Warning, or for that matter Call To Unite, had fate not decreed that Enchanted Cove follow her dam to South Africa, and that Peter de Beyer had the foresight to return Elusive Fort back home from the States as well!
