Phumelela recognises the dedication from the various Horse Care Units around the country, providing essential healthcare and nutrition to horses in local communities.
“We hope that this funding will help the various units carry out their on-going good work of taking care of horses in local communities, we care and will continue to assist where we can.” said Andreas Heide, COO Phumelela Gaming.
The Highveld Horse Care Unit (HHCU) based in Randvaal became official in 1991. Bev Seabourne-Bauer now manages the HHCU which has grown to become the largest equine welfare organisation in the Southern hemisphere. Their work includes carrying out vaccinations, de-worming and improving the overall health of horses in townships and rural communities.
