One Race – Goodbye Vaal Racemeeting

Expect the unexpected

Jordan wins the first under Calvin Habib (Pic – JC Photos)

Thursday’s Vaal racemeeting was abandoned after the running of just one race apparently after a jockey protest about the surface of the track.

Sean Tarry’s Jordan (33-10) won the first race unextended under Calvin Habib.

Apparently just over 6mm of rain was recorded.

The track condition was changed at around midday from 22 (good) to 24 (good to soft), after 5mm of rain.

The official track report issued at 07h54 on Thursday morning showed zero rain over the past seven days, although irrigation was recorded at 24mm over the same period.

Friday’s Fairview racemeeting was moved from the turf to the polytrack on Wednesday afternoon already.

The Sporting Post has been contacted by a handful of bemused punters, generally asking, what next?
