Non Stop Thrills

2013 Champions Season Charity Turf Challenge

On Friday (night), 14 June the Gr2 Post Merchants 1200m was run at Greyville. Although a few of the “big” names from the sprinting ranks were missing, the race still attracted a quality field and it turned out to be a fantastic result for champion trainer Mike De Kock, saddling the exacta.

Merhee (Elusive Quality) got the better of the stable companion Welwitschia (Oasis Dream), scoring 14 and 9 points respectively. Third placed Copper Parade (Lecture) was not in the competition.

One horse that impressed over the weekend, earning a point, was Run For It (Dynasty) winning an Allowance Plate at Greyville Racecourse over 1400m and those that entered him in the competition will now be hoping that he gets into the final field for the 2013 Vodacom Durban July which will be announced on Tuesday, 25 June.

The entire Leader Board can now be viewed on the Charity Turf Challenge home page, click on Leader Board and at the bottom of the page open PDF file. The next big point scoring opportunity is the Gr2 Betting World Derby and the Gr2 Betting World Oaks, which will be run over 2400m at Clairwood Racecourse on Sunday 23 June. The fourth spot prize draw took place on Friday, 14 June (Greyville night) on Tellytrack.

This is a computer generated, random draw from all entrants and not dependent on points earned. The four winners of a R500 telephone betting deposit (each) kindly sponsored by TAB GOLD “The Intelligent Bet” are:

  • ALF 1
  • LUCKY ONE
  • AKI 4
  • S FUHRI 1

CONGRATULATIONS to the four winners! The next spot prize draw will be on Sunday, 23 June at Clairwood Racecourse. As and when Charity Turf Challenge horses earn points, we will update the Racing South Africa website and email data-base: www.racingsouthafrica.co.za
