Caffeine – Zim Trainer Fined

Has right of appeal against finding and penalty

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that, at an inquiry held at Borrowdale Racecourse on 21 October 2019, trainer Mrs B P Fisher was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4.

National Horseracing AuthorityThis arose in that a specimen taken from the horse HILLAH THE HUN after it ran in and won the 3rd race run at Borrowdale Racecourse on 28 April 2019, disclosed upon analysis the presence of Caffeine which is a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules.

Mrs Fisher pleaded not guilty to the charge, however, the Inquiry Board found her guilty and imposed a penalty of a fine of R34 000.

Mrs Fisher has the right of appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2 HILLAH THE HUN is disqualified from the said race and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply.
