The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry which was held in Johannesburg on 2 March 2016, Trainer Brett Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.1 in that he failed to provide a reasonable level of care to the horses under his control, by not providing them with sufficient bedding between 5 and 8 February 2016 when his stables were inspected.
Trainer Webber pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board found Trainer Webber guilty and in coming to a penalty, the Board considered all the relevant facts and what Mr Webber had said in mitigation and ruled that Mr Webber be fined the sum of seven thousand five hundred rand (R7 500.00) of which five thousand rand (R5000.00) is wholly suspended for a period of twenty-four months on condition that he is not found guilty of contravening this rule during that period.
Mr Webber has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
