Vaughan Marshall’s tough-as-teak Sun Met winner One World boasts a rating of 135 after his victory in the Gr1 contest on Saturday.
The NHA Have published their assessment of the features on the day.
- Gr1 The Sun Met
ONE WORLD has had his rating raised from 130 to 135 following his extremely gallant victory in the Grade 1 Sun Met over 2000m at Kenilworth (summer course) on Saturday 1 February. The Handicappers were unanimous in their view that the ever-consistent runner-up RAINBOW BRIDGE was the correct line horse to use in assessing the race, and as such his rating remains unchanged on 134.
There was no change either for 3rd placed HAWWAAM or for 4th finisher TWIST OF FATE, however, 5th placed BUNKER HUNT gets a small increase and goes from 122 to 124. Several horses received a rating’s drop. UNDERCOVER AGENT goes from 124 to 122, DO IT AGAIN was dropped from 136 to 135 to make him no higher than the winner, EYES WIDE OPEN drops from 118 to 116, and HEAD HONCHO is down from 126 to 124.
- Gr1 Cape Flying Championship
RUSSET AIR has seen his rating climb from 112 to 123 after he narrowly landed the Grade 1 Cape Flying Championship on WFA terms over the Kenilworth 1000m on Saturday. The Handicappers were all of the view that runner-up BOLD RESPECT was the correct line horse to use here and accordingly his rating remains unchanged on 122.
Third placed KASIMIR and 4th finisher RUN FOX RUN were also left unchanged on 128 and 122 respectively, and aside from the winner the only change made to any horse in this race was to PACIFIC TRADER, who was trimmed from 125 to 124.
- Gr1 Majorca Stakes
CLOUDS UNFOLD has had her rating increased slightly from 125 to 126 after she recorded a second successive win in the Grade 1 Majorca Stakes for fillies and mares over 1600m at Kenilworth on Saturday. Fifth placed MIYABI GOLD was considered the correct line horse to use in assessing this WFA event and accordingly her rating remain as is on 115.
Runner-up CELTIC SEA remains unchanged on 126 and is rated the equal to the winner, who only just got her measure by about a neck at the business end of the race. 3rd placed TEMPLE GRAFIN is up from 115 to 118, while 4th finisher KELPIE goes up from 110 to 116. Also up is SLEEPING SINGLE, whose rating was increased from 100 to 106.
There were drops for several horses. SILVANO’S PRIDE is down from 117 to 115, SANTA CLARA goes from 117 to 114, and FRONT AND CENTRE was dropped from 120 to 117.
- Gr2 Western Cape Stayers
SNAPSCAN remains unchanged on a rating of 118 after she comfortably coped with a step up in distance to win the Grade 2 Western Cape Stayers over 2800m at Kenilworth on Saturday. SNAPSCAN was by some way the best weighted horse in this event and did not need to run to her rating to land the spoils. At any rate, it was 5th placed STRATHDON who was considered the best line horse to use here and accordingly his rating remains unchanged on 109.
Runner-up TAP O’NOTH ran below his rating and drops from 115 to 113, while the same is true of 3rd placed KAMPALA CAMPARI, who is down from 119 to 117. On the other hand, 4th placed CROME YELLOW goes up from 98 to 106.
There were also drops for three other horses. DYNASTY’S BLOSSOM is down from 109 to 108, ATYAAB goes from 117 to 115, and PRINCESS IRENE was dropped to 101 from 104.
- Gr3 Politician Stakes
SILVER HOST has had his rating upped from 87 to 102 after he made a successful first foray into Stakes company to win the Grade 3 Politician Stakes for three-year-olds over the Kenilworth 1800m on Saturday. Fourth placed SIR MICHAEL was deemed to be the most suitable line horse and as such he remains unchanged on 99, but runner-up SUPER SILVANO had his rating increased from 94 to 100, while third placed PARTERRE is up from 97 to 100.
There were drops for several horses here, with BAG OF TRICKS down to 92 from 94 and LATE AT NIGHT going from 94 to 90. TILLIEANGUS was dropped from 86 to 85 and is now the equal of BAYBERRY, who drops to 85 from 89. VIKING MOON had his rating cut from 109 to 105.
- The CTS 1200
INVIDIA has had his rating upped from 104 to 108 following his success in the CTS 1200 for three-year-olds over 1200m at Kenilworth on Saturday. Fourth placed THREE TWO CHARLIE was considered to make for the best line horse in this race and as such remains unchanged on 102.
Runner-up CARTEL CAPTAIN had his rating increased from 101 to 106, while third placed VASEEM is up from 97 to 105. There was a small increase for 5th placed MR COBBS, who goes up from 88 to 90.
A host of horses received a rating’s drop. PUTONTHEREDLIGHT was cut from 107 to 102, while ALRAMZ was dropped from 108 to 102. GENERAL FRANCO is down from 96 to 91, SPRING BREAK drops from 106 to 103, SOMEWHERE IN TIME is down from 88 to 84, BATTLEOFTRAFALGAR is down to 88 from 93, WHAT YOU ARE drops from 109 to 107, MIRAGE was dropped from 98 to 94, and GROUND CONTROL is down from 90 to 85.
- The CTS 1600
COUNT JACK has had his rating increased from 93 to 110 after he won the CTS 1600 for three-year-olds over the Kenilworth 1600m on Saturday. Runner-up SACHDEV was used as the line horse here and accordingly remains unchanged on 108. Fourth placed INVISIBLE was also left unaltered on 95, but third finisher SOVEREIGN SECRET was raised from 83 to 95 to make her the equal of INVISIBLE, who was less than half-a-length further behind her.
There were no other increases, but three horses were given a rating’s drop. WILD COAST was trimmed from 114 to 112, CANE LIME ‘N SODA is down from 102 to 100, and DYNASTIC LIGHT was dropped from 87 to 83.
