The National Horseracing Authority confirms that Trainer S Janse van Rensburg, who was legally represented, appeared before an Inquiry Board at the offices of The National Horseracing Authority, Eastern Cape on Tuesday 24 November 2015.
- Mr Janse van Rensburg was charged with and pleaded guilty to a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in the he failed to vaccinate certain horses in his care in accordance with the programme of vaccinations for Equine Influenza. He was fined R10 000.
- Mr Janse van Rensburg was charged with and pleaded guilty to a contravention of Rule 72.1.19 in that he committed a dishonest practice in relation to racing in that several passports for horses under his care contained irregular and or false entries relating to Equine Influenza Vaccinations. The penalty imposed was that Mr Janse van Rensburg’s Trainers’ license be cancelled and that he be fined a sum of R60 000.
The Inquiry Board after hearing evidence in mitigation, wholly suspended the cancellation of Mr Janse van Rensburg’s license and suspended R20 000 of the R60 000 fine imposed for a period of 5 years on condition he is not found guilty of a contravention of Rule 72.1.19 during the period.
Mr Janse van Rensburg has the right of appeal against the penalties imposed.
