The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held at its offices at Turffontein Racecourse on 14 September 2016, Trainer Spike Lerena was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5, in that he failed to vaccinate the horse LOVE TRYST against Equine Influenza, in accordance with the programme of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar.
Trainer Lerena pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.
The Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R2 000-00.
Trainer Lerena has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
