The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on 4 March 2016, (which was delayed due to witnesses being unavailable), Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of GOLD ONYX he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to MASTERS EYE approaching the 250 metre mark in Race 6 at Kenilworth Racecourse on 12 December 2015.
A plea of not guilty was entered on Jockey Khumalo’s behalf due to him being uncertain of what plea to enter to the charge.
The Inquiry Board found Jockey Khumalo guilty of the charge and imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days.
Jockey Khumalo has the right of appeal against the finding and penalty imposed.
