The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held in Durban on 1 November 2021, Jockey S’manga Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop.
The particulars being that he struck the horse NATIVE TONGUE more than 12 times with his crop in Race 7, at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on 17 October 2021.
Jockey Khumalo pleaded guilty to and was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board, after considering the mitigating factors and taking into account Jockey Khumalo’s poor recent record in relation to this Rule, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days.
Jockey Khumalo has the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
