The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held on Wednesday 9 December 2015 at the Borrowdale Park Racecourse, trainer S D’Aquino was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.1, in that he as a Trainer subject to the rules of the National Horseracing Authority and responsible for the care, treatment and training of horses under his control, failed to provide a reasonable level of care and veterinary treatment to the horses DORA and THE ALMOND.
This resulted in these horses on or before the 11th of November 2015 showing on examination, poor condition, varying injuries and conditions not treated by a Veterinary Surgeon, which resulted in their confiscation by the ZN SPCA.
Trainer D’Aquino pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board found Mr D’Aquino guilty and the penalty imposed by the Board was that Mr D’Aquino’s Trainers’ licence be cancelled for a period of six months, wholly suspended for a period of two years, on condition he is not found guilty of a contravention of this rule during this period.
Trainer D’Aquino has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
