Sean Veale – suspended

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Cape Town on 9 November 2016, Jockey Sean Veale was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

This arose from an incident when he intentionally attempted to cause interference to PRINCESS VARUNYA (AUS) (Apprentice Jockey S Moodley) after the winning post of Race 4 at Scottsville Racecourse on 2 October 2016, by riding his horse VELVET WIND, across PRINCESS VARUNYA (AUS).

Jockey Veale pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after considering all the mitigating factors put forward, as well as Jockey Veale’s sincere remorse regarding his actions, accepted his plea and found Jockey Veale guilty of the charge and suspended him from riding in races for a period of 10 days.

Jockey Veale was given the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
