NHA: Mjoka Suspended

Has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an inquiry was held at its offices on Wednesday, 24 August 2016, into Apprentice Jockey M Mjoka’s riding of MISS ARGENTINA in the concluding stages of Race 7 at the Vaal Racecourse on 11 August 2016.

Mr Mjoka was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride MISS ARGENTINA out to the end of the race, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining first place.

Mr Mjoka pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.

The Board, after viewing the patrol films of the race, considering Mr Mjoka’s  record and all the other factors presented in mitigation, ruled that Mr Mjoka be suspended from riding in races for a period of thirty days.

Mr Mjoka has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
