The NHA handicappers have published their assessments of the past weekend’s feature race MR adjustments.

  • Gr3 Goals And Gallops Final Fling Stakes

PRETTY BETTY has had her merit rating increased from 97 to 106 following her fluent success in the Gr3 Goals and Gallops Final Fling Stakes over 1800m on the Kenilworth winter course on Saturday 17 July.

The Handicappers were of the view that 3rd placed MUSICAL GLITCH made for the best line horse here, which leaves her unchanged on a mark of 94.

It was noted that PRETTY BETTY took on several of the rivals she had met when winning the Listed Ladies Mile three weeks earlier and beat them by considerably further this time.

The winner aside there were no other ratings increases out of this race, but four horses were given a drop.  SLEEPING SINGLE is down from 105 to 102, DRIVING MISS DAISY was dropped from 103 to 100, SING OUT LOUD drops to 101 from 104, and lastly EVA EILEEN was cut from 100 to 98.

  • Gr3 Cape Racing Champagne Stakes

PHIL’S DANCER has had her rating raised from 100 to 103 after she captured the Gr3 Cape Racing Champagne Stakes for fillies and mares over 1200m at Kenilworth on Saturday.

It was runner-up CAPITANA who was used as the line horse when assessing this event, leaving her with an unaltered mark of 101.

Apart from the winner, the only other ratings increase was for 4th finisher FUSILLADE, who is up from 80 to 85.  The sole drop was for QUEEN OF QUIET, who is down from 94 to 91.

  • Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes

SANTA THERESE has had her rating increased from 99 to 104 following her very easy success in the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes over 1600m on the Fairview turf course on Friday 16 July.

It was runner-up WATER SPIRIT who was considered to make for the most suitable line horse, which leaves her unchanged on a rating of 94.

Aside from the winner, the only other increase was for 4th placed STEP LIVELY, who was raised from 87 to 94 after she finished no more than 0.10 lengths behind the 94-rated line horse WATER SPIRIT at level weights.

There were ratings drops for two horses, with RATTLE MOUSE down from 94 to 92 and GOLDEN CHANCE being dropped to 86 from 88.
