The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held in Johannesburg on 28 September 2016, Apprentice Jockey Lyle Hewitson was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that, whilst riding PAY AS YOU GO, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to FORMAL REQUEST when he shifted out in the concluding stages of Race 8 at the Vaal Racecourse on 13 September 2016.
Apprentice Jockey Hewitson pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge. The Inquiry Board, after considering the evidence, imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days.
Apprentice Jockey Hewitson has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
