The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held at Flamingo Park Racecourse on Monday 26 September 2016, Trainer Coerie Lensley was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.3, read with Rule 72.1.3.1, in that he, without proper reason, sent RAVING JEWEL from the saddling area, back to his stables, which resulted in this filly being withdrawn from Race 5 run at Flamingo Park Racecourse on 19 September 2016.
Trainer Lensley pleaded not guilty to the charge but was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a fine of R5 000-00, of which R4 000-00 is wholly suspended for a period of one year, on condition that Trainer Lensley is not found guilty of a contravention of these rules during this period.
Trainer Lensley has the right of appeal against both the finding and the penalty.
