The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry which was held in Cape Town on 13 April 2016, Jockey Keanen Steyn was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that as the rider of ROCKET MASTER he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to other runners when he shifted inwards at about the 1400m of Race 5 run over 1600m at Kenilworth Racecourse on 5 April 2016.
Jockey Steyn pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board, after considering the evidence presented, found Mr Steyn guilty of the charge and suspended him from riding in races for a period of 7 days.
Mr Steyn has the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
