The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an inquiry was held at its offices in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 20 April 2016, into an alleged contravention of Rule 26.1 read in conjunction with 26.1.1 by Jockey Karl Zechner.
Jockey Zechner was charged with a contravention of Rule 26.1 read in conjunction with Rule 26.1.1, in that he allowed Mr D Zackey to act as his agent when he was not registered as an agent by the NHA Licensing Board.
Jockey Zechner pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty of the charge.
The Board, after considering the evidence and taking into account the factors presented in mitigation, ruled that Mr Zechner be fined the sum of R1500 (one thousand five hundred rand).
Jockey Zechner has the right of appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.

We asked the NHA to clarify whether Mr Zackey has regularised his position.
