Prejudiced Chances – Apprentice Suspended

Has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on 27 June 2018, Apprentice Jockey Julius Mphanya was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3.

This arose in that as the rider of ROSSLYN CHAPEL, he failed to ride his horse out to the end of the race, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining third position in Race 5 at Fairview Racecourse on 18 June 2018.

Apprentice Jockey Mphanya pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board found Apprentice Jockey Mphanya guilty of the charge and imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for 14 days.

Apprentice Jockey Mphanya has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
