Julius Mariba in action
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held at its offices at Turffontein Racecourse on Wednesday 23 December 2015, Jockey Julius Mariba was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in that he failed to ride the horse KAPITAN out to the end of Race 7 run at the Vaal Racecourse on 21 November 2015, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining fourth place.
Mr Mariba pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board found Mr Mariba guilty and imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of ten days.
Mr Mariba has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
