The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 14 September 2016, Apprentice Jockey L Hewitson was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7, in that as the rider of SIMLA he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to RESPECT AT BAY (*E Ngwane), SAVE THE DAY (C Zackey) and LOBELIA (*T Godden) at approximately the 300m mark in Race 9 at the Greyville Racecourse on 11 September 2016.

Apprentice Jockey Hewitson pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Board, after considering the evidence, found Apprentice Jockey Hewitson guilty.

The Board, having considered his recent contraventions of Rule 62.2.7, imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of ten days.

Apprentice Jockey Hewitson has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
