He was the Trainer and the person responsible for the horse REDCARPET CAPTAIN

National Horseracing AuthorityThe National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held at their  Head Office on 24 June 2015, Mr G H van Zyl was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4.

He was the Trainer and the person responsible for the horse REDCARPET CAPTAIN, who ran in and won the 2nd race at Turffontein Racecourse on 10 February 2015, which was subjected to a routine urine test which disclosed upon analysis the presence of Procaine, which is a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.

Mr van Zyl was represented by Attorney Mr Robert Bloomberg.  Mr van Zyl pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry was adjourned and judgment was handed down on 17 July 2015.

After considering all the evidence, the Inquiry Board ruled that Mr van Zyl be fined the sum of sixty thousand rand (R60 000.00).

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2, REDCARPET CAPTAIN is disqualified from the said race and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply.
