NHA: Robinson Guilty

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 18 November 2015, Mr L F Robinson was charged with contraventions of:

  1. Rule 10.5.14, in that he as a licensed trainer, failed to accurately record or cause to be accurately recorded as a treatment record in a treatment register, preparations which contained a prohibited substance namely Acepromazine and 2-(1-Hydroxyethyl)promazine sulfoxide, administered and/or any veterinarian treatment to the horse SECOND LIEUTENANT under his care, on or about at least the 23rd of September 2015.

Mr Robinson pleaded guilty to the charge.  The Inquiry Board accepted his plea and found him guilty as charged.

After considering all the evidence, the Inquiry Board imposed a fine of R3 000.00.

  1. Rule 72.1.40 in that he failed and/or refused to comply with a reasonable order, direction or requirement of Mr S Arendse, a licensed official, in that in contravention of Rule 10.5.15, on 23 September 2015, he as a licensed trainer refused to allow Mr Arendse and such persons who accompanied him, to exercise his rights in terms of Rule 4.2.6 in that he failed to allow Mr Arendse to inspect his motor vehicle, at his racing stable at Summerveld Training Centre.

Mr Robinson pleaded guilty to the charge.  The Inquiry Board accepted his plea and found him guilty as charged.

After considering all the evidence, the Inquiry Board imposed a fine of R25 000.00 of which R10 000.00 is wholly suspended for a period of 18 months provided that he is not found guilty of a similar offence in that period.

Mr Robinson has the right of appeal against both the penalties imposed.
