NHA: Ngwane Suspended

Has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed

National Horseracing AuthorityThe National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 16 November 2016, Apprentice Jockey Eric Ngwane was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

This arose in that as the rider of NICKLAUS (BRZ) in Race 7 at the Greyville Racecourse on 2 November 2016, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to other runners when shifting outwards, covering substantial ground from near the inside of the race track, to the outside of the race track over the final 200 metres.

Apprentice Jockey Ngwane pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after considering the evidence, found Apprentice Jockey Ngwane guilty and imposed a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven days.

Apprentice Jockey Ngwane has the right of appeal against the penalty imposed.
