NHA: Drier Fined

Mr Drier pleaded guilty to the charge

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an Inquiry was held at its Regional Office in Durban on 19 April 2016.

National Horseracing AuthorityTrainer D R Drier was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.6 in that he was the trainer of the horse SUPREME DYNASTY when she was presented at the starting stalls for re-certification prior to the start of the race meeting at Kenilworth Racecourse on 20 January 2016 and when a specimen taken disclosed, upon analysis, the presence of Furosemide, a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.

Mr Drier pleaded guilty to the charge.

After considering all the evidence including the evidence in mitigation, the Board imposed a fine of R15 000 which is wholly suspended for a period of two years on condition that Mr Drier is not found guilty of any Rule relating to prohibited substances in that period.

Mr Drier has the right of appeal against the penalty.
