The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an Inquiry was held at its Regional Office in Port Elizabeth on 15 June 2016.
Trainer, Mrs D A Sham was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that she was the Trainer responsible for the horse FLAMING ACE who ran in and won the 5th race at Fairview Racecourse on 28 March 2016, after which a urine specimen taken from this horse, disclosed upon analysis, the presence of Dexamethasone, which is a prohibited substance in terms of Rule 73.4, read with sub rule 73.4.2.1 of The National Horseracing Authority.
Mrs D A Sham pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Inquiry Board found Mrs D A Sham guilty and imposed a penalty of R40 000, of which R20 000 is wholly suspended for a period of 24 months, provided that she is not found guilty of a contravention of any rule relating to prohibited substances during that period.
FURTHERMORE IN TERMS OF RULE 72.3.2 FLAMING ACE IS DISQUALIFIED FROM THE 5TH RACE RUN AT FAIRVIEW RACECOURSE ON 28 MARCH 2016 AND THE PROVISIONS OF RULE 67.7.8 APPLY.
