The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an Inquiry was held at the Head Office at Turffontein Racecourse on 7 September 2016.

Trainer Mr C J Lensley was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that a specimen taken from the horse HEAVEN ON EARTH, after it participated in and won the 2nd race at Flamingo Park Racecourse on 23 May 2016, contained Salbutamol, a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa.Mr Lensley pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.

In applying the relevant guidelines when determining the sum of the penalty to be imposed, the Inquiry Board took cognisance of the factors stated in mitigation, as well the frank manner in which Mr Lensley approached the Inquiry, and imposed a fine of R23 000-00.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2, HEAVEN ON EARTH is disqualified from the 2nd race run at Flamingo Park Racecourse on 23 May 2016 and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply.
