The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on 23 July 2020, Jockey Xolane Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.1.
The particulars of the charge being, that as the Rider of ROSE A VELDT, he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures from approximately the 300m to the 100m, to ensure that this horse was given a full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible placing in Race 1 at Fairview Racecourse on 6 July 2020.
Mr Ndlovu pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty as charged.
The Inquiry Board after considering the seriousness of the contravention contained in the charge and all the factors stated in mitigation and aggravation, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of sixty (60) days.
Mr Ndlovu has the Right of Appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed.
