NHA: Marcus Guilty

Caused interference

AntonMarcus3April2015The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry which was held at its offices on Monday, 30 November 2015, Jockey Anton Marcus was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of DIAMOND KING (NZ), he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horse STOLEN DESTINY (M Yeni) when switching inwards approaching the 100 metre mark in Race 3 at Greyville Racecourse on the 16 October 2015.

 Mr Marcus pleaded not guilty to the charge.

 The Inquiry Board found Mr Marcus guilty of the charge and after having considered all the evidence, suspended Mr Marcus from riding in races for a period of seven days.

Mr Marcus waived his right of appeal against the finding and severity of the penalty imposed and was granted permission to take his suspension from 1 December to 7 December 2015, excluding 5 December and including 8 December 2015.
