The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on the 2 October 2015, adjourned and resumed on 9 October 2015, Jockey Andrew Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.18 in that he swore at or interfered with a licensed official involved with the control of racing, after the running of Race 3 at Fairview Racecourse on 7 September 2015.

Jockey Fortune pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board found Jockey Fortune guilty as charged and imposed a fine of R1000 which is wholly suspended for a period of 6 months, on condition that he is not found guilty in terms of Rule 72.1.18 over the said period.

He has the right of appeal against both the finding and the penalty.

Further, at this Inquiry, Jockey Fortune was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.42 in that he conducted himself in an improper, disrespectful and abusive manner during the course of the Inquiry.

Jockey Fortune pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board found Jockey Fortune guilty as charged and imposed a fine of R5000.

Jockey Fortune has the Right Of Appeal against the finding and penalty.
