NHA: Gordon Guilty

Mambo Master disqualified

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that an Inquiry was held at its Regional Office at Greyville Racecourse, Durban, on Thursday 5 November 2015.

Trainer Mr A D Gordon was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that he was the person responsible for the horse MAMBO MASTER at the time when a specimen taken from that horse disclosed upon analysis the presence of the prohibited substance Methocarbamol, (classified as a class 4 substance in terms of the Guidelines).

MAMBO MASTER participated in and won the 8th Race at Scottsville Racecourse on 15 July 2015.

Trainer Gordon pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board accepted his plea of guilty and found him guilty as charged. After considering all the evidence including the evidence in mitigation, the Inquiry Board imposed a fine of R20 000.00.

Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2, MAMBO MASTER is disqualified from the race and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply.
