At an inquiry held in Cape Town on Wednesday 27 June 2018, Jockey Aldo Domeyer, in absentia, was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

This arose in that as the rider of BLACK INDY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to BLACK SAIL when he shifted inwards in front of BLACK SAIL passing the 600m in Race 4 at Kenilworth Racecourse on 2 June 2018.

The Inquiry Board entered a plea of not guilty on behalf of Jockey Domeyer.

The Inquiry Board found Jockey Domeyer guilty as charged and imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days.

Jockey Domeyer has the right of appeal against the finding and the penalty imposed.

Jockey Domeyer was afforded every opportunity to attend the Inquiry. The matter had been delayed to the extent that the Inquiry Board convened to proceed and Jockey Domeyer asked the Inquiry Board to proceed in his absence and finalise the proceedings in accordance with Rule 79.3.
