Bruss and Lebala appointed

Robin Bruss – new board member

The NHA reports that in terms of Chapter 4 of the Constitution of The National Horseracing Authority the Nominations Committee, consisting of past chairmen Adv. Altus Joubert, Mr Larry Nestadt, Mr Jonathan Witts-Hewinson and Mr Cecil Baitz, has appointed Mr R L Bruss and Adv. S M Lebala SC to the Board of Directors of the NHA to fill the two vacancies on the Board.

Mr Bruss  is a Member in terms of  clause 15.1.1 and Adv. Lebala is an independent person in terms of  clause 15.1.2 of the Constitution.

Mr R L Bruss

 Robin Bruss comes from a racing family and has been involved with horseracing and breeding all his life.  He previously served on the National Board from 2006 to 2015.  He has a passion for the industry and has been active as an owner, breeder, agent, auctioneer, journalist, television presenter, researcher, administrator and consultant.

Adv. S M Lebala SC

Simmy Lebala has been active as a Legal Practitioner for a number of years and Senior Counsel status was conferred on him in 2008.  Over the years he has chaired a number of Boards and various Commissions.  He represents a number of government departments in litigation matters as Senior Counsel.
