Netta Springs The Surprise

Vodacom Durban July entry shows her ability

The Wernars family celebrated a terrific feature double at Turffontein on 4Racing Champions Day. While both their winners impressed, Vodacom Durban July entrant Netta’s victory in the R250 000 4Racing Gr2 Gerald Rosenberg Stakes was sensational.

A half hour after the victory by Celestial Love in the Wernars silks in the Camellia Stakes, Netta became the second July entry after Expressfromtheus in the second race, to score on the big day.

Darting past the race favourtite and powerful veteran front-runner Running Brave at the 600m, Netta grabbed a march on the small field and increased her lead to beat fellow 3yo Sparkling Water by 6 lengths in a time of 125,63 secs.

This was Paul Peter’s second feature success on the afternoon.

Jockey Warren Kennedy was looking around at the 200m and the Paul Peter galloper clearly showed that she was not herself at her last two starts behind Triple Tiara princess, War Of Athena.

An Oldlands Stud bred daughter of deceased Storm Cat sire Where’s That Tiger, Netta is out of the one-time winning Indigo Magic mare Souplesse.

She has won 3 races with 5 places from 13 starts for stakes of R483 500.

She cost just R60 000 at the BSA Cape Yearling Sale.
