Riding The Storm

The National Racing Bureau has advised that it is receiving a number of complaints with regard to certain trainers not declaring a jockey by the time the racecard goes to press. This is seriously compromising their business, for both local and overseas patrons.

While the National Horseracing Authority has been requested to intervene, they have requested that trainers note the Operators condition, specifically:
5.1.3 Notwithstanding Condition 5.1.1, failure to declare a Rider by two hours after the closing of declarations shall be an offence and the Trainer may be liable to a fine in terms of the Rules and the horse may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Chairman of the Stipendiary Board.

Trainers have been requested to confirm riders timeously to avoid unnecessary fines.
