South Africa’s leading bookmakers Hollywoodbets continue to play a strategic supporting role in the broader horseracing industry.
Following a year of innovation in association with Gold Circle and KZN racing, that has included payments to Grooms for every winner, Hollywoodbets have now committed to support the National Horse Trust to the tune of R2,25 million over the next three years.
This much needed injection of funds will go some way to supporting the important work done with retired racehorses, and could extend as far afield as rural outreach educational programmes for equines who play a role in generating an income in some communities.
The National Horse Trust was established in 1989 as the racing industry’s own charity to assist and take care of abused and neglected Thoroughbreds after their racing careers were over.
The Trust established three Horse Care Units around the country and these have over the years evolved to include all breeds of horses.
The National Horse Trust today is the fundraising body nationally to support the Coastal, Eastern Cape and Highveld Horse Care Units.
