Dynasty Filly Tops

Cheveley Stud boast sales topper

The sales topper on the first two days of the 2014 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale appeared late in proceedings on Thursday, the second and penultimate day of the sale.

Consigned by Cheveley Stud (breeders of the recently crowned Horse Of The Year Legislate), the unnamed bay filly was snapped up by Varsfontein Stud for R1.4 million to stamp herself as by far the top priced lot sold thus far.

The blue blooded miss, catalogued as lot 354, is the first lot to fetch more than R1 million at the 2014 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale.

She is a daughter of leading sire Dynasty, whose offspring include the recently crowned Equus Champions Legislate and Beach Beauty, to name just two. Out of the Royal Academy mare Mystic Spring, the filly is a half-sister to the ill-fated Rabiya, South Africas Equus Champion 3YO Classic Male of 2005, and four other stakes winners.

The sale continues Friday, when it will recommence at 10:30 am.
