Muzi’s Bipot Bumper

World Pool With Gold Circle Gr2 Debutante

In a grandstand finish to the R250 000 World Pool With Gold Circle Gr2 Debutante at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday, Muzi Yeni produced 33-1 longshot Cala Muretta in the final stride to gain a narrow victory and beat Captain’s Christy in what was a Bipot knockout.

Having her first start for the Rix-Crawford stable, the former Ashley Fortune charge Cala Muretta produced some Gr2 sparkle straight out of a modest Vaal maiden victory to win well.

Tackling the dangerous looking Captain’s Christy (10-1) late, the Dylan Chinsammy raced galloper showed courage to gain a head victory in a time of 72,13 secs.

The pacesetter Leaving Las Vegas (5-2) ran out of puff late, but stayed on well enough after doing the donkey work.

Bred by Varsfontein Stud, the winner, who should enjoy more ground in time to come, is a R300 000 National Yearling Sale graduate and a daughter of SA champion sire Gimmethegreenlight (More Than Ready) out of the thrice winning Fort Wood mare, Scandola.

A winner of 2 races and a place from 5 starts, Cala Muretta took her stakes to R224 250.
