More Than Ready’s global reach was reinforced on Sunday at the Keeneland Bloodstock Sale in Kentucky and the Coronation Cup meeting in Malaysia.
More Than Ready is the sire of Varsfontein’s leading producer, Gimmethegreenlight.
He had mares, weanlings and mares in foal sell up to $575,000 by the time the curtain came down on 12 days of competitive trade at Keeneland.
The Vinery legend also sired his two hundredth individual stakes winner when Sacred Empire won the Listed Coronation Cup at Perak on Sunday.
He’s a brother to NZ Oaks Gr1 winner More Than Sacred, and is raced by Raffles Racing founder Dato Yap.
More Than Ready (USA) sits fourth on the all-time list for stakes-winning sires. Danehill (347) heads that table followed by Galileo (312), Sadler’s Wells (294), More Than Ready (200) and Danzig (198).
It’s an altogether different pecking order for individual winners.
More Than Ready (1849 and counting) is a mile in front of any other stallion in history, with Danehill next best on 1623.
More Than Ready’s versatility is also evident in his Gr1 honour-roll in Australasia and North America.
His CV includes brilliant juveniles Sebring & Phelan Ready (Golden Slipper Stakes) and Samaready (Blue Diamond Stakes) through to horses capable of getting a trip, including classic winners Benicio (Victoria Derby), Eagle Way (Queensland Derby), More Than Sacred (NZ Oaks) and John Singleton’s champion mare More Joyous.
She has been the most successful of his 24 Gr1 winners with 8 at the elite level. Vinery is standing More Than Ready for a A$55,000 (inc GST) service fee this season.
Gimmethegreenlight stands for R75 000 this season.
