Moodley Gets 14 Days

Has the Right of Appeal

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Saturday 03 February 2024, Jockey Serino Moodley was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3.

The particulars being that he failed to ride Thambi out to the end of the race, to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards and prejudiced his chances of obtaining fourth place in Race 5 at the Vaal Racecourse on 23 January 2024.

Jockey Moodley pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after considering the evidence presented, imposed the penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of fourteen (14) days.

Jockey Moodley was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
