Month End At The Vaal

First due off at 11h45 - lucky last is set for 16h20

It’s month end and pools should be healthy as racing takes place at the Vaal today, with nine races carded.

The first is due off at 11h45 and the lucky last is set for 16h20.

Trainer Lucky Houdalakis saddles What A Lucy in the opener. She should give punters a good start to the day.

She made the expected natural improvement when fourth in her last start over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course.

She showed good speed that day but was outrun late. The daughter of What A Winter should have no issues with the drop back to 1000m and she should give the males a run for their money.

Meet The Captain from the Stephen Moffatt stable takes her place in Race 9. She was doing her best work late when fourth over 1200m on this course last time.

Her best form has been under in-form jockey Muzi Yeni. She carries another handy galloping mass of 53kgs and can return to winning ways.

Please note that jockeys Thackeray and Greyling will not be riding today.
