Fairview On The Turf Today

The first Jackpot starts in the fourth race at 14h10

The second meeting of the year in Port Elizabeth takes place on the turf track today. Eight races are scheduled.

The local jockeys – including usual Gauteng rider Marco van Rensburg – will be taking up the engagements with the regular visitors locked down in their regular home provinces.

Jockey Luyolo Mxothwa has ridden 27 winners in the Eastern Cape this season at a strike-rate of 13.9%.

He has a full book of rides, four of which have a decent chance of winning and he will be looking to add to his tally.

The first race is due off at 12h30.

Alan Greeff saddles Que Cosas in race 1 today.

Que Cosas could be the one to give punters a good start to the new week. She has produced two very good efforts thus far.

She should have finished closer last time as she had to be steadied at the 500m mark.

The daughter of Coup De Grace drops back in distance and in this type of field, she should be the one to beat.

Grant Paddock sends out Bridesmaid Blues in Race 4. She is much better than her last start over a mile on the polytrack as she was reported to be not striding out.

The daughter of Twice Over won her only attempt over this course and distance.

She does not meet the strongest field and with a bit of luck in running, she can get back to winning ways.

Que Cosas has alumites on the front and is unshod behind for today’s racing.

The false rail is at 7m to zero to the 1200m mark, decreasing to 3m to the 800m mark with a 3m spur.

  • The Bipot starts in the first race at 12h30
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second race at 13h00
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third race at 13h35
  • The first Jackpot starts in the fourth race at 14h10

The Inspiring Story Of Dr Marianne Thomson

‘I am writing this as an older, small breeder and in our language, Markus, because this is our war. If I phoned you, I’d be overwhelmed by business jargon within a minute. What makes you so angry that you don’t care what you are doing to our shaky industry? How do you deal with this in your inner, quiet self?’
