Mike de Kock and his team will select and purchase up to five yearlings for MDK Racing Syndicates at the 2015 CTS Cape Premier Yearling Sale that takes place in Cape Town on Thursday and Friday.

The MDK International Racing Syndicates, launched late last year, are open to existing racehorse owners and new investors from around the world. In brief, each Syndicate will comprise 12 shareholders/investors contributing a minimum of ZAR500 000 each. Syndicates will be formed from purchases at the various CTS Sales.

Suitable tried horses will be sourced from time to time.

Syndicate buys will go into training with Mike, starting their racing careers in South Africa.  Horses successful in SA will be shipped to Mike’s Dubai Stables to commence their international careers. The major feature races in Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore will be targeted with qualifying candidates. Training fees for a period of 12 months will be included in the initial investment. Syndicate members will have exclusive access to a membership section on a new website dedicated to MDK Racing Syndicates.

The emphasis is on buying both quality yearlings and tried horses to race globally.  It’s also about promoting a lifestyle. Mike elaborated: “We want to promote the value and quality of South African bred bloodstock to the world as well as all the great lifestyle aspects of South Africa. With most currencies performing so strong against the rand, South African horses and tourism represent fantastic value.”

CTS COO Adrian Todd is also enthusiastic on the merits of buying and racing South African horses. “Mike has had enormous success with our horses all over the world and we’re delighted to be involved in supporting this initiative. We heavily subsidize international buyers to attend our sales every year, and are committed to continue to attract buyers to our sales. The union with such an international training icon like Mike is a perfect fit.”

Since 2012, the CTS CAPE PREMIER YEARLING SALE in January has produced the Gr1 winners SOFT FALLING RAIN (CHAMPION), ACT OF WAR, YORKER (CHAMPION), IN THE FAST LANE (CHAMPION), CARRY ON ALICE (CHAMPION), AFRIKABURN (CHAMPION), CONTADOR, THE HANGMAN, WAR HORSE, ATHINA, FOR THE LADS, FOREST INDIGO, NORMANZ as well as COLD AS ICE, FAIRYINTHEWOODS, SILVANO’S JET, TELLINA, CHAVE DE OURA, FRANNY, JADE BAY, BLAZE OF NOON, DYNASTIC POWER, FLASH DRIVE, OLYMPIC OWEN, RED RAY, POWER KING, WHISTLE STOP, WHEREDOWEGO, JET SET GO, KINGVOLDT, BELOVED COUNTRY, RED DISA, PINE PRINCESS, SEVEN GRAND, SUNSET TRIPP, ALYSA’S PRIZE, etc.
