Michaela Stewart realised her dreams over the weekend. Competing in her first ever 3* event after a not so perfect Eventing Season, she walked away as SA Adult Open Eventing Champion 2020.
Dad Mike Stewart, a veteran Cape trainer, proudly drove Michaela all the way from Noordhoek, Western Cape to Mooi River, Kwa-Zulu Natal, to compete in this years’ SA Open Eventing Championship.
Michaela thanked her instructors, Michelle de V-moreira and Astrid Muller for the help getting her show-jumping and dressage into top shape for the show, offering endless supportive phone calls and messages throughout her trip.
She had clear rounds in both Show Jumping and Cross-Country, placing second overall in Dressage. A massive achievement for her after the long trip from Noordhoek.
“Thank you to my mom, Ingrid Stewart, for all you have sacrificed. You are one in a million and I am so lucky to have you by my side,” gushed Michaela.
“Lastly, to my champion, Mr Cum Laude. It’s been five years of hard work and grit and it all came together. Thank you for always keeping me safe out in the country and for always giving your all – no horse could ever replace you.”
