Mgudlwa Gets 10 Days

Has right of appeal against finding and penalty

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 3 August 2023 and concluded on 14 August 2023, Jockey A Mgudlwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.2.

The particulars being that he rode TRUE TROJAN in an unprofessional manner by striking Apprentice M Katjedi (PLAYER X) with his crop on the upper part of his body on one occasion in the concluding stages in Race 4 at Hollywoodbets Scottsville Racecourse on 19 July 2023.

Jockey Mgudlwa pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge.

The Inquiry Board, after considering the evidence and mitigating factors presented, imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of ten days.

Jockey Mgudlwa was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
