Master Ride By Stallone

Hollywoodbets Gavin Smith maintains his form

While Muzi Yeni dominated the Fairview meeting on Friday with a glorious five-timer, the multiple Northern Cape champion had to play second fiddle to replacement jockey Stallone Naidoo in the feature, the R85 000 Listed Port Elizabeth Gold Cup.

Hollywoodbets-sponsored trainer Gavin Smith has been in a rich vein of form and saddled his 121st winner of the term, while maintaining his rock-solid national top ten standing, when former CK Racing resident Master Supreme produced a top effort at his first start over ground and his first outing in the Eastern Cape.

Under a well-judged ride from Stallone Naidoo, Master Supreme (9-2) made much of the running in the 3200m feature to stay on resolutely and score a one and a quarter length win in a time of 207,88 secs at the expense of Gr3 Mahala TV Cape Summer Stayers Handicap winner Strathdon (3-1).

Bred by Vanessa Harrison and raced by leading Mauritius owner Vicky Veeramootoo, the gelded Master Supreme has now won three times, from 1800 to 3200 metres, for stakes of R202 875.

Out of the Kahal mare Cousin Annie, Master Supreme is the tenth stakes winner for Varsfontein’s Jet Master stallion, Master Of My Fate. The latter is currently third on the South African General Sires List for 2020/21.
