The free-to-play Hollywoodbets Punters’ Challenge offers you twice the chance to win big today with the local double-header so get your selections in now.

Vaughan Marshall’s Sahara Cat takes per place in Race 3 (Pic – Chase Liebenberg)

It’s been a month of rain and more rain, and with interrupted work upsets could well be on the cards at the first meeting back at the country course in eight months.

Trainer Vaughan Marshall sends out Sahara Cat in Race 3 and Ashton Arries has picked up the ride.

She showed signs of needing her comeback run over 1500m last time. The drop to 1200m should suit her well.

The daughter of One World is the class horse in this race, and she can notch up her third-career victory.

Mister Monocle from the Justin Snaith stable takes his place in Race 7. He showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this course and distance.

He was slow into stride but stayed on at the finish. He has won three times, finished second twice and third once from as many starts in the wet going.

If jumping on terms, he may be the one to beat.

Below are Justin Snaith’s comments:

Race 1

  • Please Be True is a smart colt looking for a mile ultimately. He is very well after a promising debut. He’ll be the one to beat.

Race 2

  • American Matador improved last time out and a similar effort is expected from him. Outside place chance.
  • Landoftherisingsun is looking for ten furlongs but has shown very good ability so far. With some luck from a wide draw, he should run a cracking race.

Race 3

  • In The Green Zone is very consistent and always in the money. She’ll be in the shakeup once again with Sahara Cat looking hard to beat. We expect In the Green Zone to love the Durbanville track.

Race 4

  • Champagne Kisses continues to improve but does take on older fillies. We are hoping her ability pulls her through. Big runner.
  • Kaapse Hoop takes no part

Race 5

  • Courtly is a nice type who will win his races and is worth following. Place chance.
  • Groovejet is always in the money and will be in frame once again.

Race 6

  • Future Turn will relish the conditions today. Include in all exotic bets.
  • Magic Verse is back to his best. He’ll run a huge race from the 1 draw.
  • Nevada King was impressive last time out and could well win again despite posting a 1kg overweight (Gavin Lerena).

Race 7

  • Mister Monocle loves the soft conditions and will be a strong contender.

Race 8

  • Navy Strength loves a soft track so include.
  • Pacaya is in top form and should be considered.
  • Rapidash has been an unlucky horse in his last few races. Big chance over this trip if all goes his way.
  • Sachdev runs his best races in these conditions. Cannot be left out any bets.
  • Salvator Mundi is very capable on his day and shouldn’t be left out, in a small but very open event – field leg in pick 6.

Race 9

  • Among The Clouds relished the extra trip last time out and will run right on top of them again.
  • Lickety Split is in fair form and never far off them. Include as she has upset potential.

  • Richard Fourie
  • Sean Veale
  • Nirvan Nastili
  • Craig Bantam
